Fatal crash, Lomond Avenue, Tokoroa

One person has died following a serious crash in Tokoroa overnight.

At around 12am Police were alerted to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Lomond Avenue.

Despite best efforts of emergency services, one person died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination.

The road was closed for a period of time, however reopened early this morning.

Police continue to make enquiries to determine the circumstances of the crash.

On Friday 27 June, Police were called to Dumfries Road where a woman walking her dog was sexually assaulted by an unknown person.

Man in court in relation to Tauranga road rage incidents

A man is due back in court in two weeks charged with offending relating to alleged road rage in Tauranga last month.

On 20 May, Police received a number of reports from members of the public about the manner of driving of a utility vehicle, including an instance where the driver allegedly brandished a knife at a motorist.

Second arrest made in relation to fatal hit-and-run crash in Rotorua

Police have arrested and charged a second person in relation to a fatal crash in Rotorua on 15 June.

As a result of a search warrant yesterday, a 55-year-old man was arrested at a Rotorua address. He is due to appear in the Rotorua District Court today charged with accessory after the fact to manslaughter.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Van Kempen says the man also faces additional charges that are unrelated to the fatal crash on 15 June.

“While executing the warrant, staff discovered ammunition, cannabis and stolen property at the address.”

Man charged over fatal hit-and-run crash in Rotorua

Police have arrested and charged a man over a fatal crash in Rotorua on 15 June.

Police conducted search warrants in Hamilton and Rotorua today, which led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Hamilton man. He was arrested at a property in Hamilton.

The arrest relates to the crash on Edmund Road, Rotorua on 15 June that killed a 24-year-old Rotorua man.

“We are glad to get this result and hope it provides some relief to the family,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Van Kempen.

A woman has died following an incident in Tūrangi this morning.

Emergency services were called to an address on Hinerangi Street at about 6:30am, where the victim was found deceased.

A homicide investigation is underway and a scene guard is at the property.

We would like to hear from any witnesses, or anybody with CCTV footage from the incident.
