Police advise motorists travelling on the Upper Harbour Highway (SH18) to expect delays tonight.

A four-car crash heading westbound has occurred just after the Tauhinu Road on-ramp, near Greenhithe.

There are no serious injuries to report.

While the vehicles are being cleared, there is an extensive backlog of traffic towards the Albany area.

Please allow additional time to reach your destination safely this evening.

Serious crash, Cambridge Road, Waipa district

Emergency services are at the scene of a crash that has blocked Cambridge Road in Waipa district.

The crash involves a car and a truck, and was reported about 11.25am.

One person is reported to be injured.

Cambridge Road is closed between Storey Road and Cox Road and motorists should expect delays while traffic management is arranged.

Emergency services were called to an address on Coatesville-Riverhead Highway at around 8:20pm to reports of a car crashing into a house.

Initial indications suggest that four people have serious to critical injuries.

The area is being hit by adverse weather conditions with flooding across the area and road closures likely.

Especially avoid: Belgrove, Wakefield, Brightwater, Richmond, Whakatu Drive, Appleby, Redwood, Riwaka.

In extreme conditions, please limit yourself to essential travel only, ensure you have had your brakes and windscreen wipers checked. Reducing speed, using headlights and watching your visibility will also ensure a safe trip.
